Once a year, I take refuge somewhere where I can be quiet for a few days ..

Two years ago, I went to stay at my friend’s place in Santa Cruz, right on the beach. I woke up in the morning and went for a walk by the ocean. It was beautiful everywhere. Water, sand, sun, clouds, smell of the air, sound of the waves, the breeze …

That morning, I recalled the conversation I had with Leigh Ann a week before. She is a psychic and clairvoyant. I have always been interested in the unknown. Besides, it just feels good even if it is for a while until it wears off and then back to staring in one’s own reality show. I remembered she told me that I have two angels watching over me (the most unknown of the unknowns – right here people!) and that one of them angels sends me yellow roses!! What? Funny, I remembered not liking them at all after I planted a bunch years earlier (when I thought I loved them,) and discovered they don’t last as long as other roses after they bloomed. Yellow roses? I “questionably” repeated, secretly hoping she corrects it, or something. I was giving her a way out. Yes, yellow roses, she replied. I was thinking “Darn! ok, don’t get so hung up on it Sonia, this is only for fun.”

Now on the beach, I started a silly conversation: OK, angels, this is the time! Sorry for being so forward, but send me the rose, show me the money, right here, right now! Today is as good as any. I was laughing at my thoughts, yet deep down I really wanted it to be true. While keeping up the appearances of a mature woman, I started looking for it everywhere between the ocean on the right, sands and a short distance to the rocks on the left. I could see pink Iceland flowers, kelps, rocks, shells, but nothing else. I am laughing and thinking: “this is ridiculous Sonia, you know better,” yet I couldn’t stop looking.I was getting obsessed. I wanted a rose! Yellow rose. I was ready to settle for any yellow flower at this time. It was like checking out vending machines to see who forgot their change, so you can score a quarter or a nickel, a penny. Something!

I was thinking “seriously angels, I don’t have all day.” At this point, I was looking at “anything yellow” on the beach, even the garbage, nothing!  Forget the flower, not even a yellow piece of paper! Water to the right, sands to the left … I thought: this is crazy, grow up, go home!  Finally, and needless to say, disappointed, I started heading home.

Then, suddenly I had to stop! Right there, right in front of my feet, there it was: a single yellow rose stuck in the sands!

Amazing! Un”believable.”  What are the chances of that? I still get a funny feeling in my tummy thinking about it.
And, for those of us who think: “there must be a logical explanation for this,”  of course there is.

Now, you know!

With love, Sonia
